How long does it take to register a company?
It takes 24-48h to complete the registration of a UK LLP / LTD in most cases, but this vary depending on registry workloads.
It takes 24-48h to complete the registration of a US LLC (longer for AZ, DE and FL). In addition, it currently takes 1-3 weeks for the IRS to issue an EIN (2024).
It takes 2-3 weeks to complete the registration of a BC LLP. A priority service is available for in BC for a surcharge (200 EUR, reduces the processing time to 1-4 days). It currently takes 24-48h to complete the registration of a ON LP.
Are any documents needed?
A proof of ID and a proof of address is required, for each natural person partner / owner, for the registration of a UK LLP / LTD.
A proof of ID is required, for each natural person member / UBO, for the registration of a US LLC.
A proof of ID is required, for each natural person partner / UBO, for the registration of a BC LLP and ON LP.
Is there any residency restrictions?
Besides national security related sanctions, there are no residency restrictions for the registration of US, CA and UK businesses.
What information will be publicly available?
For the UK LLP / LTD, the full name of the partners / owners will be visible on the public registry, along with their month and year of birth, their country of residency and their nationality.
For the US LLC (WY, NM and DE), no personal information will be visible on the public registry. For the US LLC (FL and AZ), the name of the members will be visible on the public registry.
For the BC LLP, no personal information will be visible on the public registry.
For the ON LP, the full name of the general partner(s) will be visible on the public registry.
Is a business bank account included?
No, but all documentation necessary to open one is included along with guidance and support when needed.
Is travel required?
No although travel will open additional banking options.
Do I need an accountant?
As long as you do not physically operate from the registration country, no, as all filings (except for VAT / sales tax) are included as part of Freedom Surfer’s service.
How can I close my company?
You can request the dissolution of your company at any time, at no extra charge, via the link provided in the getting started guide.
What about the monthly fee?
For UK and US businesses, a monthly fee (20 EUR for UK LLP / LTD, 15 EUR for NM LLC, 20 EUR for WY LLC / DE LLC, 30 EUR for FL LLC / AZ LLC) is due starting at the beginning of the month following that of the registration of your company, if you choose the monthly plan (an annual plan is also available). For the UK LLP / LTD, the registration is deemed complete on the day of registration, as shown on the company documents. For a US LLC, the registration is deemed complete on the day of issuance of the EIN. The monthly fee covers all ongoing filings except for personal filings if applicable, all government fees, the use of the registered address (including the scanning and global forwarding of a reasonable amount of postal mail) and ongoing support. In case dissolution is requested, the monthly fee will stop immediately. All services will be terminated if the payment of the monthly fee lapse for two months.
